Who We Are

Sudan's Youth Climate Platform

CAS (Climate Action in Sudan) is a pioneering youth-led initiative established as a professional and strategic response to the institutional void created by Sudan's ongoing conflict — and the disruption it caused to climate and development work.

We operate as a technical bridge connecting young Sudanese talent with the international community, building a generation of experts capable of shaping national climate policy and competing on the global diplomatic stage at COP conferences and beyond.

🌍

Climate-Peace Nexus

Responsible resource management as the foundation for political and social stability in Sudan.

📊

Data Sovereignty

Sudan owns its climate data and leads its own national narrative on environmental challenges.

Inclusion & Innovation

Ensuring women and rural communities are represented through open-source technology.

Strategic Context

Three Core Challenges We Address

01

Institutional Collapse

Sudan's climate institutions have broken down, causing loss of historical data and shutdown of research centres. CAS fills this gap through youth-driven field data collection.

02

Generational Gap

Disrupted training programs threaten climate expertise continuity. Without young experts, Sudan cannot update NDCs, draft Adaptation Plans, or meet international commitments.

03

Loss & Damage Opportunity

Sudan qualifies for international L&D funding but lacks capacity to convert field needs into bankable projects meeting Green Climate Fund standards.

2026–2030 Structure

Specialised Working Groups

Fellows in Phase 2 of the CAS Fellowship are embedded into four specialised working groups — each aligned to a strategic pillar of the initiative.

CBWG

Capacity Building

The backbone of the CAS Digital Academy. Builds a critical mass of 5,000 climate leaders by 2030 through offline curricula, peer educator networks, and climate camps across Sudan's states.

  • Offline-accessible modules
  • Peer educator programs
  • Climathons & workshops
  • Open-source data tools
SDGsWG

Sustainable Development

Drives youth engagement with Sudan's SDG commitments, linking Goals 1 (poverty), 2 (food security), and 13 (climate action) to real field conditions and national planning frameworks.

  • VNR report analysis
  • SDG-climate policy briefs
  • Community campaigns
  • International financing
NDCAWG

NDC & Adaptation

Links local communities to national decision-makers. Works on updating Sudan's NDCs and National Adaptation Plans based on field evidence from the most vulnerable states.

  • NDC & NAP consultations
  • Policy briefs for ministries
  • Early warning systems
  • Community livelihood pilots
PAWG

Policy & Advocacy

Sudan's climate diplomatic wing. Trains young technical diplomats for COP representation and crafts high-quality project proposals for international climate funds.

  • COP delegation prep
  • Bankable projects (GCF)
  • Loss & Damage advocacy
  • UNFCCC & YOUNGO network
